Just a General Disclaimer about our group. Our Reenacting Unit, 2nd Company Panzergrenadier Regiment Grossdeutschland, consists of members with a genuine interest in military history. 2Kp does not condone or wish to glorify extremist regimes of the World War Two period such as the Third Reich. Racism or anytype of embracement of Nazi idealogy of any kind is strictly prohibited by this reenactment unit and our parent organization, LHRA. This website, anyone involved in its creation, or members of re-enactment groups listed here are in no way affiliated with real, radical political organizations (i.e., KKK, Aryan Nation, American Nazi Party, etc.) and do not embrace the philosophies and actions of the original NSDAP (Nazi party). We wholeheartedly condemn the atrocities that made them infamous. May the victims of these unspeakable horrors rest in peace. As we portray the German combat soldier of World War II on the Eastern Front, we are only interested in recreating his daily life and traditions, furthering our understanding of what it took to be a soldier, and at the same time having fun reliving history. We honor the men (and women) who really experienced the war and we salute their courage and loyalty to put their lives on the line in defense of their native soil, no matter what nationality or government. Again, We are not a political unit, and anyone with racist or radical ideals will be asked to leave immediately. Our group is one of the many reenacting units in the Midwest. However are members are located in Michigan and Ohio. What is WW2 Reenacting? Reenacting is a hobby where like-minded individuals collect WW2 gear. We collect things that were actually used in WW2 and newly made items, reproductions, which are made to look exactly like their 70 year old counterparts. We are more than just collectors though. We go to shows and events and dress up in the actual WW2 uniforms. We do a variety of different activities including holding Mock Battles for the public to watch, setting up displays, camping out with period WW2 equipment, and tactical skirmishes. How many times a year do you do this? It depends on the individual but we do about 5 events a year. Where are these events and battles at? WW2 Reenacting events are held all over the country at public parks, private property, farms, airports, etc. We usually try to stay local but we will travel from time to time. How strict are you about authenticity? Authenticity is very important in our unit. We do our best to portray the Grossdeutshland as accurately and professionally as possible and wish to find members who will do the same. If you do not care about creating a proper impression for reenacting this may not be the group for you. |
